Treasure Planet is a Disney animated feature that is currently in production.

Treasure Planet takes the story of Treasure Island and puts it into space. This is a picture of Long John Silver, who is a cyborg in this version.
Dane Davis is creating source material for some of the gooey vocalizations that Silver's pet, Morph, makes. Instead of a parrot, Morph is a shape-shifter.
The challenge for Dane is to create a consistent sound for a character that is constantly changing shape, and mimicking the other characters. The sound has to be fluid and cute with a wide expressive range.
Treasure Planet is a mix of old and new technology. The aesthetic is a 18th century story in a futuristic environment. For Silver's arm and Bent, another robot character, we need to come up with motors and gears that sound both low and high tech at the same time.

We have recorded all kinds of windup toys, motors, servos, and gears to work with. Now we will manipulate and edit the sounds until we come up with the right blend of material that will make the characters come to life without detracting from the action.
